ALMATY, Sept. 8 (Xinhua) -- Ten people died and another three were injured Tuesday after a Mi-8 helicopter carrying them crashed in southern Kazakhstan, the Interfax news agency reported.

"Ten people were burnt to death and three others survived," a source in the local security service was quoted as saying.

The helicopter, which belonged to the Kazakh border guard service and was carrying a crew of 13, lost contact with the ground at 10:30 a.m. local time (0430 GMT) and crashed in the Ugamsk Valley area, the national security committee said.
